Even the holly surges in June.

The day’s business requires its brutal thrust.

The ocean continues to roar and everyone

is tipped forward from one dawn to another.

What chance that anyone will remember

the solitary individual who departs unnoticed?

Driving home from the hospital we saw

a baby rabbit nibbling by the side of the road,

unaware of the danger which even its parents

could not convey. It’s not always best

to learn from experience — the “hard way” —

especially when there is nothing to be learned.
